It was registered in the Cayman Islands on July 6, 1999 as NetEase.com, Inc., and in March 2012 changed its name to NetEase, Inc. The company's headquarters is located in Hangzhou, China. Since its founding, the company offered search services and free email. Over time, NetEase, Inc.'s business model underwent significant transformation. Drawing on knowledge of user needs and experience in execution, the company created a range of innovative and successful services, from email, music streaming services, and e-commerce under private label to internet media, intelligent learning, and more. Today, NetEase, Inc. is a media holding company comparable to Russian companies Yandex or Mail.ru Group, but focused on the domestic market.
