When I check my brokerage account, one stock that really disappoints me is Hormel Foods (HRL -1.25%). Despite its poor performance, I haven't considered selling it from my portfolio.
Hormel announced its Q4-2024 results, causing the stock to drop by 3% in pre-market trading. Although the results were decent, the forecast for 2025 did not meet Wall Street's expectations. In the past two years, the stock has decreased roughly in line with the decline in earnings predictions.
Hormel Foods (HRL) reported quarterly earnings of $0.42 per share, which is slightly below the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.43 per share. This is the same as the earnings of $0.42 per share from the previous year.
Hormel faced challenges this year due to decreased prices for whole-bird turkeys and a halt in production at a Planters plant in Virginia.
Hormel Foods' results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024 show a decrease in net sales compared to the previous year, with earnings remaining unchanged. Additionally, the volume of sales dropped by 4.1%.
HRL's results for the fourth quarter are expected to show negative effects due to the production issues at its Suffolk plant and rising advertising expenses.
Hormel Foods (HRL 1.60%) is a Dividend King with a strong dividend yield of 3.6%. Currently, it seems to be available at a lower price, and in a few years, long-term dividend investors may regret not purchasing it.
In addition to Wall Street's predictions for Hormel's (HRL) earnings, take a look at forecasts for some important metrics to better understand how the company performed in the quarter that ended in October 2024.
HRL's plan to raise dividends every year not only boosts the income of shareholders but also strengthens their trust in the company.
One dividend growth stock has dropped by 45% and is a good buy at the moment.
