Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has chosen Nilton David, the chief trader at Bradesco bank, to be the new monetary policy director at the central bank, beginning in January, according to an announcement made on Friday.

Banco Bradesco's results for the third quarter of 2024 indicate a drop in market share, rising costs, and decreasing profit margins. However, net income improved because of fewer late payments. While the bank's loan portfolio increased by 8% compared to last year, it is losing ground in important areas such as personal loans, credit cards, and deposits, and there are worries about lower net interest margins and higher operating costs.
