RSP, an equal-weighted ETF for the S&P 500, has increased by 12.7% in 2024, which is less than the SPX's 26.5% gain because of its diverse investments. Its approach minimizes momentum bias, resulting in lower volatility and a better valuation with a forward P/E of 17.5x, while the SPX has a P/E of 20x. Although RSP usually does not perform as well during market rises, it tends to do better during market declines, making it a safer option in today's market.

Goldman Sachs analysts have released a pessimistic 10-year prediction for the S&P 500 index. They expect the index to only achieve a 3% annual return until 2034, which is much lower than the 13% average return seen over the past decade.
