On Thursday, American International Group announced plans to divest a 20% interest in its life insurance and retirement division Corebridge Financial for $3.8 billion.
AIG has reached a deal to sell around 120 million shares of its Corebridge stock to Nippon Life Insurance Company for $31.47 per share, totaling $3.8 billion. This represents 20% of Corebridge's total shares. AIG will retain a 9.9% stake in Corebridge for two years after the sale. Nippon Life expressed satisfaction with the agreement.
