Porter Airlines is launching new service today between Toronto-Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB), expanding its Toronto network. According to recent research conducted by Pearson, a majority of secondary school students in the UK are interested in learning more about generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) in order to better prepare for its increasing presence in the workforce and society. In fact, nearly three-quarters of the students surveyed believe it is important for them to have a better understanding of Gen AI.

Shore Capital believes that despite a mixed performance in the first quarter from the online learning group, Pearson is undervalued. Revenues at the Assessment & Qualifications division, which makes up 41% of total revenue, increased by 2% compared to last year, while the Higher Education division, accounting for 23% of total revenue, experienced a 4% decline.

Pearson is expected to meet its forecasts this year and is anticipated to have stronger momentum in the latter part of the year, according to the online learning and exams group. Revenues increased by 2% in the three months ending March 2024, with English learning (+22%) and workforce skills (+9%) showing significant growth.

JP Morgan has raised its price target for Pearson PLC (LSE:PSON) to 1,220p, up by 200p, while reiterating its 'overweight' recommendation. The American investment bank is set to delve into Pearson's virtual schools and the anticipated growth of its US Higher Education (USHE) sector in a fireside chat with divisional CEO Tom ap Simon on March 27.

Pearson shares stayed close to a five-year high after a bullish presentation by CFO Sally Johnson at Citi's TMT conference in London. According to the broker, the key takeaways for investors in the online education group from the conference were that 2024 is set to be a cleaner year in terms of growth with all segments contributing.
