According to recent research conducted by Pearson, a majority of secondary school students in the UK are interested in learning more about generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) in order to better prepare for its increasing presence in the workforce and society. Shore Capital believes that despite a mixed performance in the first quarter from the online learning group, Pearson is undervalued. JP Morgan has raised its price target for Pearson PLC (LSE:PSON) to 1,220p, up by 200p, while reiterating its 'overweight' recommendation. The American investment bank is set to delve into Pearson's virtual schools and the anticipated growth of its US Higher Education (USHE) sector in a fireside chat with divisional CEO Tom ap Simon on March 27.
Pearson shares stayed close to a five-year high after a bullish presentation by CFO Sally Johnson at Citi's TMT conference in London. According to the broker, the key takeaways for investors in the online education group from the conference were that 2024 is set to be a cleaner year in terms of growth with all segments contributing.
