Despite significant banking turmoil, PMTS grew 2nd qtr. revenue single digits and EBITDA mid-teens demonstrating its resilient recurring business model. Some of the company's 27% growth in 2022 was due to excessive channel inventory, which should dissipate in Q4 2023 unmasking secular growth. The new CEO should be a catalyst as they would reengage with investors bringing new institutional investors into the stock.

CPI Card Group jumped high over a low bar for earnings results this morning. Sales were supposed to shrink, but grew modestly instead, allowing earnings to keep rising.

The lingering effects of the regional banking crisis could see a sequential dip in PMTS's key metrics, from what was seen in Q1. The CPI Card Group's long-standing track record of generating superior operating leverage will persist over the next two years. The net leverage is in a much better place and FCF this year could double.

Most of the top growth stocks to buy this year are in the artificial intelligence sector, and they have continued to rally and drive up excitement. However, growth stocks in many other industries have yet to catch up and they can deliver spectacular returns when they inevitably rebound.
