Stellantis (STLA) is partnering with French government-backed research organization CEA to develop next-generation battery cells for electric vehicles, the company announced Wednesday.

Stellantis , the carmaker whose brands include Peugeot, Fiat and Chrysler, announced on Wednesday a partnership with the French state's CEA research organisation to work on a next generation of battery cells for electric vehicles.

Car manufacturers in Britain are placing more pressure on the incoming government after it demanded support, days after Vauxhall's owner Stellantis threatened to shut its production factories in the UK.
