This collaboration aims to improve the resilience of the electric grid in the Greater Houston area, covering 5,000 square miles. By integrating Neara's technology, CenterPoint plans to make smarter investments that will benefit its 2.8 million customers.

In the short term, plans involve putting up 25,000 new, sturdier poles, clearing or trimming 4,000 miles of risky plants, and installing 4,500 automated reliability devices. These tasks will be finished before the 2025 hurricane season. This announcement was made in Houston in September.
